Color Coding and You…
One of the most useful feature of the Auctioneer add-on is the price-based color coding. Soon after you start using the add-on you will notice each auction line is color coded to indicate how good of a deal each item is. Blue means it is the best available deal – the item is very cheap compared to the “market value”; green, all the way up to red means that the item is increasingly more expensive compared to it’s “market value”.
What Is Color Coding?
Color coding can be found throughout the modules used by Auctioneer, but the “Matches found” line of an items tooltip is where color coding really shines.
- How many times this item has been seen
- The current distribution in the AH
- The Confidence value for the item
As you can see in the previous screen shot, there are 32 matches of this particular item on the Auction House, and 22 of these matches are in line with the market value (yellow) and 10 are overpriced. This easy to read summary is of invaluable help in your day to day auctioneering.
For example, I usually use this tooltip line to see which Glyphs don’t have below-market competition and are worth crafting.
Obviously the “market value” for each item needs to be accurate, this is where the Confidence value comes in, otherwise color coding means nothing. The higher the confidence, the more accurate the value. Also, you should always be sure to run a full scan before consulting the tooltip to be sure you have the most up-to date data.

This is a little off topic, but i was wondering how to download these videos to play later and what player do you use to open .php files? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I can not seem to get the color-coding to show up, I just installed the addons and the only thing that doesn’t show up is the color-coding.
I went to the PriceLevel Module and the “Show PriceLevel and unit price in the tooltips” is checked.
Please help!
make sure you do a complete scan of the Auction House and it should appear.

I’m having the same problem, and I have scanned the AH thoroughly. I use the newest version of Auctioneer.
Please give an solution to this problem, as the color-coding seems to be essential, and it’s annoying not having it.
Where is it not showing for you?
In the Auction House window. Is it showing on the Appraiser Tab?
If its not showing on your on tooltips
Go to Configure > Core Options > General
make sure ‘Display ScanData Tooltipp’ is ticked

Mayley, I recently changed my settings to show the color coding as you suggest but then the display quit showing the items use feature. Is there a way to do both?

I do not know how to provide you with a screenshot. However the best I can describe id this:
Prior to changing the settings to display the different auctions seen and their color coded lvls, I was able to pass my cursor over an item and it would display what an item was used for profession wise. After the change it does not.
k, I figured out what the problem was. In the informant general settings there is a check box that if checked will force you to use the alt key to show the expandd information.
That looks like something to do with your informant.
Yes it is informant, however this is an addon created by the authors of Auctioneer and to be used with it. I have it checked to show item use, but when I changed the settings in auctioneer to show the color coding this information is no longer shown. It’s not that big a deal but it helped me to know what professions would be interested in an item and helped me to determine its need.
Mayley, I watched the video for configuring the auctioneer settings and everything seems to be the same as yours. Everything works fine, except the current number of matches is extremely high. ex: it says there are currently 800 linen cloth in the AH but when I search in the auciton there are only 52. Just wondering if you knew what was wrong. Thanks.
Nevermind. It’s counting individual cloths I am a moron. lol.
my colour coding is not showing right. i looked on appraiser tab and it said netherweave bag had 3 yellow and 345 orange auctions. yet when i searched for netherweave bag on the first tab, there were lots of blue and green sales. i think it may have been something to do with my scanning. i have scanned twice a day for the past 2 days. how long do you think it will take for me to get accurate prices for everything?
Try refreshing the appraiser and you should have the current result. Auctioneer have also been a little buggy since patch 3.2 make sure you have version 5.6

Hey, I tried putting the same settings as you to get the color coding but my ‘Display ScanData Tooltipp’ and some other stuff is not there to check. I dont know whats wrong!
Never mind! I didnt find it in ‘Go to Configure > Core Options > General ‘ but I did find it in tooltip of core options. I am so stupid lol.
Ive been looking threw ur videaos and stuff to try to find where i can put the color coding and the confidence on inscrption of the item but i cant find it can u tell me exactly where i can find these two?
